CICM RP Digital Archives

About the Project

With the primary objective to preserve and conserve the important historical files of the Province collected by the Archives from 1907 to the present, the gargantuan and costly digitization project was conceived. Being in a tropical country, the CICM-RP Archives have seen the continued onslaught of floods, termites, and mildew that accompany the increasingly fragile nature of the printed materials and the eventual fading of the manuscripts. In 2018, the Provincial Government launched the digitization project outsourced to CE-Logic, Inc., to preserve our vast collections of manuscripts and photos. Divided into two phases (punctuated by the lockdown during the pandemic) and lasting 15 months altogether, the project was completed in March 2023.

The second and equally important objective of the digitization project is to make our collection available to an international audience. To this end, the Digital Archives now has its own online portal accessible 24/7 on the world wide web thanks to the hosting of the Saint Louis University IT Department.

With the project now fully completed, we could cater more and more to serious researchers as they peruse the files they are interested in, and which will be helpful in their research and academic publications.

The 3rd and last phase of the digitization project will encompass the filing, classification, and digitization of all the historical photos, awards and citations, publications, and personal memorabilia of confreres. Once completed, this phase will offer to a wider online audience the rare, rich, and most beautiful photos the missionaries had taken and printed of their missions and pastoral ministries through the years in the Philippine islands.
